Islam in Brazil/ a comparative study (O Islã no Brasil/ um estudo comparado)

The theme of conversion to Islam has been little explored in Brazilian research. However, I believe it is relevant to have a discussion that takes into account the studies on related themes, carried out by other researchers, with the primary purpose of outlining the profile of the Muslim community in Brazil as a whole. Questions will be raised that will help in the understanding of the motivations that lead to conversion, the religious practice of the converts and their insertions in the community. The relevant aspects of the Brazilian Muslim communities, such as the use of the Islamic veil, 9/11, media, dissemination of Islam, conversion, conflicts and adaptations of religious practices will also be contemplated, which will help to understand and broaden the field of vision about Islam in the country. In other terms, through this research and these questions, cited above, it will be possible to obtain data that will serve as support for my doctoral research, in progress, which compares the religious practice of converts in Brazil and Portugal.
