Arab Architecture in Maringá

The objective of this article is to briefly discuss the trajectory of the Muslim culture, the principles and expressions, specifically what refers to the role of the mosque architecture and its symbology, evolution, uses and decorative elements used in different periods and cultures. It’s also discussed the Muslim immigration course in Brazil and the Muslim institution of Maringá, in Sheik Mohamed Bem Nasser mosque perspective. The methodology used in this present article is bibliographic review about the theme, architecture elements survey and program. In this study concludes that although the simple characteristics of the Muslim architecture, the mosque has a crucial role in maintaining this culture’s expression in this city.
