large scale restoration has been started by the Great Municipality of Istanbul. Within this activity, the
building is investigated in detail and soil testing is been carried out to identify the properties of the soil.
This paper presents the primary results of the structural and earthquake response analysis of the historical
building within the development of appropriate methods and techniques for repair and strengthening of
the Little Hagia Sophia Mosque. A brief discussion is presented for possible strengthening of the
foundation and the structure of the historical building.
